Michael Taylor was born in Sussex in 1952 and studied at the Worthing School of Art (1969-70) and Goldsmiths School of Art (1970-73).He has held several solo exhibitions, including at the Morley Gallery (1983), the Worthing Museum and Art Gallery (1984), Beaux Arts, London (1993 and 1997) and at Waterhouse and Dodd, London. He has exhibited three times in the Gallery’s annual Portrait Award, winning the Award in 1983, and has undertaken a number of portrait commissions. The Gallery owns his portraits of the classical guitarist Julian Bream, the crime novelist P.D. James and the composer Sir John Tavener.
